 Q#1: What is the central idea of the story?

Ans#1: The story, Three Questions by Leo Tolstoy, is an interesting story about a King who wants to  know the answers to three particular questions in search of enlightenment.The moral of "The Three Questions" by Leo Tolstoy revolves around the importance of living in the present moment, doing good deeds for others, and being considerate of those around us. The story has themes of wisdom, knowledge, awareness, forgiveness, kindness, and acceptance.

Ans#2: The three questions asked by the King were:

What is the best time to do each thing?

Who are the most important people to work with?

What is the most important thing to do at all time?


Q#3: Who is the most important person according to the Hermit?

Ans#3: According to Hermit the most important person is he with whom you are, for no man knows whether he will ever have dealings with anyone else again. 


Q#4: How did the King and the Hermit help the wounded man?

ANS#4: The King washed his wound as best as he could and bandaged it. But the blood did not stop flowing, so the king repeatedly removed the bandage soaked with warm blood, washed the wound and rebandaged the wound. 


Q#5: Why did the King go to the wise hermit? 

Ans#5: The king went to the wise hermit to find the right answers to his questions as the hermit was widely renowned for his wisdom.


Q#6: Why did the King want to know answers to the three questions?

Ans#6: The King wanted to know the answers to the three questions because he believes that if he knows the answer to these questions, he would never fail in anything he might undertake.

Ans#7: The Hermit's answer to the three questions were:

There is only one time that is important- "Now". He meant to say that the present moment is important.

The most necessary man is he with whom you are.

The most important affair is to do good with other because for that purpose alone man was sent into this life.


Q#8: What suggestions were given in response to the third question?

Ans#8:  In response to the third question the Hermit said that we should do good with others as this is our ultimate purpose in this world.


Q#9: Why did the bearded man ask for the king's forgiveness?

Ans#9: The bearded man asked for the king's forgiveness because he wanted to kill the king but he treated him very kindly. The king's kindness changed his mind and he made peace with him.
